small lake, hike, bike, horseback, beautiful hardwood forest This trail is wide and rated moderate but is more on the easy side. I took a four year old and he had no trouble. The forest is covering the trail most all the way so it keeps things cool even on the hottest days. The mosquitos were'nt even that bad. The lake is early on in the hike and does'nt even show on the map, it is that small. There are so many trails in this area a map is a MUST. This is a nice stroll throughout a wide variety of forest. The loop section had a clear understory with towering trees while other sections offer dense low canopy forest. We saw a wide variety of flowers and trees. at the very end of the hike we stopped at Grassy Creek Falls which is a nice little spot to rest before heading back. This is a great family hike just pay attention to the horses since thay use this route a lot. Hope you enjoy and I'll see you on the trail !!!
This trail is average. A large portion of it is on a wide road and not nearly as pleasant as the smaller portions of trail. Better offerings in the area or change the route to stay off the road.
