Short, easy walk along the dunes and sound from the Jockey Ridge State Park at the West Soundside Street access. Unique perspective of dunes and quiet beach spot.

Perfect short morning hike with the pup. Interesting flora.

The GPS map for this trail is longer than the actual marked trail. Don’t use the GPS map and instead just follow the signs for this well marked trail. Otherwise, you will do some “off-roading”, which was fun. This is a good trail to wear sandals due to the sand. The sound views are excellent and the trail leads almost to a sand beach where you can wade in the sound if you like before getting back on the trail. This was a nice, easy trail.

Easy trail primarily through maritime thicket and sound estuary habitats. Several wooden bridges and a wooden staircase make this hike simple and enjoyable, and the views of the Sound cap it all off. Lizards and birds abound, also mosquitoes in the warmer months so be prepared.
