Short sweet simple. Easy, not moderate, in my opinion. Plenty of open spaces to picnic and rest and enjoy the little river.

Hiking

Muddy as heck but I’m guessing that’s going to be the going rate these days. Nice walk, short and sweet. There weren’t a lot of people out. Just some surveyors in the beginning of the trail that threw me off a bit.

I like this trail a lot for a quick in town get away. Unfortunately, lots of unleashed dogs. So if you are nervous around dogs or have a dog that’s nervous around unleashed dogs, this trail is not for you.

Running

I like this for running. It’s a little busy, but wide enough that it’s easy to keep your distance from others.

Walking

Very easy flat wide gravelly trail. About .7 or .8 each way. Stay away if it's rained recently as it gets very muddy. Otherwise a pleasant walk by the river, great for dogs.

HikingMuddy

Tried to hike but beginning of trail was a total mud hole. No dry spots to be found. Better half slipped and fell trying to cross a large puddle and ended up covered with mud and bruised ribs. Had not had any rain the last few days so no reason to be muddy. Slipped way back out and left.

~0.7 mi one way (so 1.4 total when you walk back). Port-a-potty on one end. Small “beach” area with sand and mud. There are picnic benches and places to sit along the way. Some roots are exposed in the path way, so I don’t recommend flip-flops. Lots of dogs, and people are good about leashing them and cleaning up. Flat. Plano.

Nice little out and back to take the dogs on. pretty good foot traffic for the size and gets a little muddy with rain. All in all an enjoyable morning walk.

Perfect little trail to walk out and back especially with the sunrise. Wide-open trail easy to see along the river. Not too far off the main interstate coming through Asheville should you want to get out and stretch your legs before heading to your Destiination.

Nice, short, VERY EASY trail. You walk to the end (where there is another entrance) and then walk back. If you have dogs or young kids, there is a little beach area (shallow water) they will LOVE! Our 2 dogs couldn’t get enough. There were quite a few dogs, but all dogs were friendly and played nicely. Very wide trail and plenty of room for social distancing.

Great trail but PLEASE leash your dogs, per city ordinance. Since the trails inception as part of our city system, I’ve had many encounters with unleashed dogs that have been unfavorable, as did the goats that were used on the trail one season to naturally clear the underbrush. Dogs are great, but like children, not everyone wants to interact with them, even if they are “friendly.” Thanks!

This is a nice stroll by a river. Delivers exactly what is promised in the description. A cute beach. Relatively empty, which is perfect for physical distancing.
