Not too much water in summer. Probably more in spring or after rains. Nice hike

We had lots of fun, my 2 year old walked most of it. The colors are gorgeous right now and the falls are pretty.

Great hike for us, went on a weekday. 17 bucks each to enter the park, but if you figure what there is to see in the area, you’re breaking even on fuel to get to other places

Super easy trail to waterfall. Took my elderly mom with a walking stick and she managed just fine. Have to pay to get into park for access. You aren’t allowed to swim at the pool at bottom of waterfall.

Great trail... I hiked this trail with my husband, my parents, my 13 and 3 year old. Very easy trail and the water fall makes it all worth it in the end.

Family friendly trail, gravel groomed, good for dogs. The waterfall was amazing. Combine this with the walk up to Chimney Rock, plus checking out the town at the entrance to the park, gives you an awesome day trip.

Neat hike. Easy. Platform at the falls started getting pretty crowded.

Good easy hike with kids. Incredible view at the base of the waterfall. Kids could get their feet wet in the calm, shallow pool at the base of the falls. Pretty heavy traffic on the weekend.

The waterfall is beautiful. It's a well-maintained gravel trail from Chimney Rock (you have to pay to use this part of the trail), a few rock crossing areas, mostly flat and a steady uphill on the way there. We went in the late afternoon, which I wouldn't do again—lots of traffic. The base of the falls has a viewing platform.

Easy trail from the lower parking lot to see this beautiful fall. Really challenged ourselves and did the top of Chimney Rock and Exclamation Point. Tons of stairs but well worth the trip to see the view of Lake Lure in the distance.

This trail had the best view of the waterfall. Not too hard either, especially after doing the Exclamation and Sky View trails!

Nice trail, easy to moderate if your talking about being in shape. The view deck under the falls make it worth the short trek below Chimney Rock.

Did several trails at Chimney Rock State Park on 4-23-19, Hickory Nut Falls trail being one of them. Park much busier than anticipated especially in the middle of the week - aen't kids supposed to be in school? LOL

Pretty well maintained trail. There are a couple of places where the trail washed out, but it looks like they tried to patch it up as best as they could. There are a lot of steps to get to the trail and the trail itself is not flat which will give your legs a nice workout. There are other trails that you can hike as well that are connected or nearby. It does cost to get into the park. We payed $17/person in March 2019 to go.

Well marked trail with heavy traffic on a weekend. Pretty hike with a bat cave and multiple beautiful lookout points. The end view of the waterfall was somewhat disappointing though. Many steps, but a rather easy trail.

This is a highly trafficked trail to a magnificent waterfall. The overlook at the bottom is right near the falls for some great pictures. I only wish there was a place to sit and enjoy the falls. With so many people it was necessary to look and move on for others. There were some picnic tables half way with mountain views.

Easy, well maintained family friendly trail. Out and back. Good fun if you’re willing to pay the admission fee.

Easy uphill hike with exceptional views and a beautiful waterfall. Had to pay Chimney Rock entrance fee of $17 per person. For longer hike start at Four Seasons Trail at the first parking lot.

Great trail! We took the stairs down to the trail. The trail was wide and clear of debris. The waterfall was stunning!

Beautiful waterfall and hike

Nice waterfall, but very popular area, so do not expect solitude. Warning: you do not really need to be in good shape to hike the trail however, you have to park at the top of chimney Rock and there are probably over a thousand stairs to climb down and then back up to get to and from your car. hike is not so much of a workout but the stairs on the way up is an incredible one
