Great trail for walking. In the beginning you feel like you’re simply walking at a county park and then before you know it, your walking on a mountain side (such a gradual climb you’ll wonder how you got that high)! It’s important to note that you are not following one path...you will need to closely monitor this trail map on the app to make sure you’re going the right way.

Great paved trail which can help you escape back to the mountains from busy Boone. Quiet stroll along the middle fork of the New River. Enjoy.

While trying to follow the map, I got lost and ended up at the end of a trail in the middle of the woods. It’s super confusing at some points there were three different ways you could’ve gone, and they all look like you’re following the correct map at first.

Sweet + simple little ~3mi trail. Walking, jogging, biking, roller skating etc. I wanted to leave a review on here for its *stroller friendly* features because I’m not seeing many mentions of this on known trails in the Boone area! This place is such a good little loop for stroller pushin.

A very nice, well paved trail not far from Watauga Medical Center. The trail is kinda loop, about 3 miles, very flat and super nice for a relaxing walk.

What a beautiful greenway path! We saw walkers, joggers, bikers, skateboarders, scooters, roller skaters. Wonderful, mostly flat, paved path. No cars!

I actually lived within walking distance of this trail while attending App State and hiked it at least twice a week. Lots of bikes, perfect place to jog or trail run, and lots of families and pets. It’s more of a walking trail than a hike! Lots of people year round.

Flat, well used trail but easy to get off the loop and not realize it. The app map helped me get back on track.

What I would calll a nice long stroll. Hiking shoes not required. Lot of sun, some shade. Lots of pavement, some gravel. Very gradual and very little elevation change. Nice water “features” to look at along the way.

Very easy walk. I wouldn't say it's a hiking trail. Quite crowded even for February. Still enjoyed myself, I really enjoyed the old damn. Lived in the area for 43 years and just hadn't ever gave it a chance. Great for walking dogs, and for an easy walk with kids.

It was a nice path that we went on. We took the paved path all the way past the plant and turned back around. It was nice and flat, a great place to walk your dogs!

Great trail, didn’t see any creepers lurking around. I was here visiting and needed a place to run where I felt safe. I did a 5 mile here and an 8 mile here (few loops). For parking - just put Clawson Burnley Park in gps and there’s plenty of parking in a lot right at one of the trail heads. There are a few porta potties in the lot too. Get creative with the run, there are a few different ways to get your miles in (paved loop, trail loops, run down past the water plant etc.). Nice trail with great scenery, lots of deer if you’re running right as the sun comes up, and nice people.

Dog Friendly, mostly nice, smiling hikers. A few cyclists. Easy, flat five mile loop if you use the Japanese Chinese restaurant as HQ.

First to Review

Very gentle and pleasant “trail” with plenty of benches and shaded areas near the creek. It’s not at all difficult (unless you include the Angel’s Staircase entrance, which can tucker you out if you’re not in shape and biking up). All in all, the greenway is an excellent spot to bring pets and kids.
