Such a fun trail! Lots of creek crossings (some with bridges), rocks to hop across, trees to scramble over, tiny waterfalls, a beautiful meadow, benches to sit on and some stunning views. A favorite for sure!

Muddy after rain with several easy small creek crossings. Had to climb over fallen trees. Not very level. Nice pasture in the middle. Kids enjoyed it.

A fantastic hike, even after a heavy downpour the day before. Brought the dogs, one of which had fun along jumping in the creek for half the hike. Almost no one else on the trail on a holiday Monday before NYE. A bit muddy and had to scramble across the stream a few times, but likely because of all the rain. We went counterclockwise and halfway through, big fields open up, perfect for frisbee with the dogs.

Fun hike with the kids. Personally I don't mind the less maintained nature of the trail as I like the roots and mud. Most strenuous portion was the pasture climb but the rest was all downhill. Will go back in the summer so the kids can play in the water

Nice trail with variety in landscape. Trail itself could be better maintained. Went on a beautiful weather day.

Great and quick loop through numerous terrains. Would highly recommend parking at Sims Pond (search Green Knob Trailhead on Google Maps) and hiking over the bridge to start your hike.

This trail was great but it was very strenuous at times. A lot of uphill, roots, and rocks. You can get in at Sims Creek or Sims pond. Enjoy, wear good shoes!

Not much to see, very foggy day.

Awesome trail that can easily be be knocked out in a little over an hour. Constantly changing scenery makes for an awesome hike. Saw several cows. Taking the bridge first was the right move. Dog did great.

Trail was amazing! Starting counterclockwise begins with a steep climb to a cow pasture. The trail is mostly downhill after the pasture where we crossed a few streams. Great trail overall.

Glad I read the previous posts and started from the bridge. Fun little trail to wear out the canine. Watch out for cattle scat (scattle) if venturing off-trail to explore the knob. Blue Ridge Parkway snuck up on me around the halfway point. Be cautious with dog. No one else on the trail. Perfect.

Amazing trail! Had about everything...bridges, cows, pastures, rivers, lake, woods, bridges! Lots of incline and decline! Great workout! Not crowded at all!!!

The trail was great! I unexpectedly walked this trail. It does have a steep area either going down or coming up depending on which way you started on the trial. I started on the pond side so it was steep going down :)

Very poorly maintained.

Very nice trail at the beginning when you follow a creek. Slow climb to an open prairie. The climb down is not as nice and is fairly steep.

Poorly maintained trail. A lot of erosion and several overgrown fields.

Nice trail! Suggest going over the bridge first. The other way would be a difficult start. Nice stream and pasture with flowers. Was quiet and not crowded!

The trail was a little overgrown and muddy at points. There are cows! Also, when you make it to the parkway during the trail, go to the left and cross over to the lake to continue the trail. Overall, though this was a wonderful hike on a trail that seems barely touched. It had a very mystical feel to it.

We started from Sims Pond and hiked along the stream... then up to Green Knob and back to the parkway. Be careful on way down due to some clay / slick spots. Love this hike!

Overall, this is a great loop trail with a stream running parallel to the trail for part of the hike. Tree canopies offer shade over a good portion of the hike. Trail head is not well marked if you follow the directions from the app. Other option is to jump on the trail at Sims Pond.

We had such a wonderful hike. There are so many beautiful streams and different environments including a green cow pasture and rhododendron and fern-filled woods. There are a variety of paths for the moderate hiker, which were perfect for us!

Such a fun hike, with a variety of terrain! Multiple creek crossings to play in! The last 1/2 mile may be challenging if it’s rained a lot recently.
