FS-469A is a 4.5 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Marion, North Carolina that features a river and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
I would have went further but the people I was with couldn’t make the incline.
Enjoyed it...but it’s an odd hike. First half follows an unused forestry road, easy terrain with a steady incline. And then the road ends abruptly, and AllTrails takes you straight up a hill along the ridgeline, at the right turn dogleg you see on the map gps. It’s 45° straight up the hill, going through the forest along the faintest of paths. It eventually just runs out of trail...there’s no payoff, other than getting there. Interesting but odd.
Nice forestry service road hike. Take a side trail about 1/3 mile in when you can hear the waterfall on Tom's Creek, trail to the left and see the waterfall from the top. A nice roadside waterfall farther up on the right. I put this on the easy side of moderate. Several primitive camping sites off the left side of road.
