Beautiful waterfall and a nice hike to get to it

Hike from the parking lot to the beginning of the trail to the waterfall is pretty strenuous and has lots of steps to climb but once their the rest of the hike is pretty flat. Upper parking lot was closed so we had to hike form lower parking lot.

Took all the trails...Hickory Nut to lower falls. Then Chimney Rock. Then Exclamation Point over to Skyline trail. It’s mostly going up stairs until you get on Skyline Trail. The view of the falls from Skyline is a bit lackluster. The view from the bottom on Hickory Nut Trail is better.

The trail is in the park. It cost 17$ to get through to the parking lot, you can shuttle up to the top of Chimney Rock or you can hike the trails all the way up. Personally since we paid to get in, we shuttled up top and then made our way down the trails back to the parking lot. The trail was fine, just a lot of people being fairly loud for the “outdoor nature” setting. I enjoy a more personalized experience but I did expect people considering we paid to get into a tourist attraction. Still work the money for the views and the few nice trails.

Commercial hike, so to speak. Tons of people. This trail leads to the waterfall, but you can’t come that far without then going on to Chimney Rock, which is a stairs workout, hard core inclines. The waterfall is cool and the view from Chimney Rock is amazing, but the Four Seasons Trail is not an inspiring, meditative walk through the woods. Traveled an hour from Asheville to do Exclamation Point in the same park, but it was closed due to ice. The better hikes are in Pisgah National Forest.

Got an annual pass it was $32 for adults. Cheaper than 2 visits. Being that I’m training for the Spartan Trifecta this was cheaper than a gym membership the entire park is great. Although it gets busy. Best time is at opening on Sunday mornings that’s when I go with my dog. There’s less people and primarily locals so it’s relaxed till about noon.

This trail is on the property of Chimney Rock State Park so you must pay even if you just want to hike the trail. It is $17 for adults and $5 for kids. Also this is a short hike FULL of stairs. We counted almost 300 steps so if you’re looking for an actual hike vs a stairclimber leave this one!
