Weather was beautiful, cool, little to no bugs. Great challenging hike with only a few blown over trees. The waterfalls were stunning and the leaves had just started to turn yellow.

This is also the route used for the "Ultimate Hike" (CureSearch fundraiser event). The posted distance is 28.3 miles. However, my GPS clocked it at 29.7. Trail conditions are difficult because there are a lot of rocks and roots and most of the trail is very narrow (single-file track). The elevation gain on my GPS estimated it closer to 4,450 ft elevation gain, but following the route in this direction does mean more downhill than uphill (end point is 1,000 feet lower than the start, approx.). PLEASE take a good trail map with you or use Alltrails because while most of the trail is well marked with white blazes, there are a few confusing spots with other trails intersecting. Some in our Ultimate Hike group made a wrong turn and added miles to their distance.
