This was a fun, quick hike. Enough elevation change to get your heart rate up if you hike quickly, but not too strenuous. Beautiful views of the lake. We nearly had it to ourselves on a Monday morning. Had to go around a snake we encountered as we were coming back out.

HikingGreat!

I really enjoyed this trail. The trail is well maintained, smooth, and not a lot of roots. (at least the area we hiked - loop) I think there could of been a few more areas cleared for more views of Lake James but you can still get amazing pictures and step back and take it all in. The trails appear to be bidirectional for hikers and bikers. That seemed a little odd to me since all other trails I've been on have a direction for hikers vs bikers.

Pleasant walk in an evergreen forest. After approximately 1 mile you will get to the lake and follow it for 1 1/2 mile before returning. Excellent conditions. Did not see a single person for two hours on a Thursday morning.

Great biking trail, it’s about 3-4 ft wide with some inclines. Also a few pull offs to take a rest by the lake.

lots of dappled light and shade on this trail, which is great for such a hot day. if you want a quick exercise style hike, it's easy here: few roots and rocks on the trail itself. more packed clay and dirty. and if you want to take it all in slowly, there are benches and you can even make your way to water and wade in, if you want. cons: signs are very misleading and so. many. mountain. bikers. on this tiny loop. one couple passed us 3 times. in covid time, this not super wide trail feels well traveled enough by just hikers passing in the opposite direction. but finding a sliver of forest to stand on to surrender the path to big exhaling bikers felt tiresome and thankless after a while.

Great trail and easier hike. We completed with our kids and some family friends with no major strenuous areas. Only issue we had were a few times the trail signs were somewhat confusing. Other than that, easy family hike! Beautiful views of the lake and lots of shade on the trail.

Shaded trail with tall pines, undulating little hills and beautiful lake views. Benches of iron and repurposed wood allow for rest and reflection. Mountain bikers were courteous and sparse. We went on a weekday late afternoon and still got in 6 miles. Easy to find with good parking. I imagine on a weekend this is a very popular place! I’d rate it more easy than moderate.

We hiked it yesterday. We are not avid hikers, so this trail was just right for us. The scenery was beautiful. I'll definitely keep this one on the list.

Beautiful hike through tall pines. Drops down by a little inlet in the lake for a minute and my boys loved exploring there. Continues on and peaks at a breathtaking view of James Lake and the distant mountain. My almost 5 year hiked the entire 3.8 mile loop, so I’d say it’s doable for kids!

Very nice. We hiked it this time. Took the 4 mile loop. You can ride or hike 13-17 miles. Smooth gradual climbs. steep switch backs. Flowy burms and down hills. Will bring my bike next time.

Great trail that is very well maintained. It’s perfect for a day hike, and offers several great views. The trailhead offers a parking lot and a restroom. The trails were a little crowded with mountain bikes when we went, but it has plenty of room for them to pass by.

Great trail. Very well maintained. It is a few degrees cooler in the woods than at the trailhead. It’s an easy trail but would list it as moderate due to the elevation changes.

This trail was very nice and relaxing. It wasn't strenuous in any way and we did 6 miles. There were multiple ways you could have gone too. Great views of the lake too! Happy hiking.
