October 2019 The first part of the trail was very open and rocky, pretty cool views along that track (our first hike this fall with a good amount of color). The first section of the Art Loeb was a very cool, unique wooded area. Back again on Ivestor was very much a forest hike, no views as going through. Looping around and back on the Art Loeb trail was borderline miserable at times. Very overgrown and not maintained...in all fairness there was a sign at the end of the Art Loeb portion of the loop that said “trail closed due to erosion” but there were no signs indicating as such at the top of the loop. The view from flower knob was spectacular. Would definitely recommend long pants and sleeves. Since we were so close to shining rock we ended up hiking through there. Definitely some areas of overgrowth but very cool rocks/forest areas on that trail. Worthwhile.

This route can be a bit difficult. Make sure to bring sunblock because your exposed majority of the time. Alot of scrub brush and narrow trails. Wear ankle supporting shoes because it is very rocky and has alot of erosion. A good bit of the trail is covered in streams ranging from a half inch deep to about 4 inches. Great trail though and the views on the saddle between the hills and on top of the hills are amazing. So peaceful up there on a Wednesday afternoon. I will definitely be back just a little more prepared.
