Steep hike with nice vistas. Boulders and crags offer elevated views of the Boone Fork area. Trail links Nuwati and Daniel Boone Scout trails, making a nice loop hike passing through rhododendron and blueberry thickets. Cragway is a steep, strenuous hike with grand vistas. Boulders and crags offer elevated views of the Boone Fork area. This trail links Nuwati and Daniel Boone Scout trails, making a nice loop hike passing through rhododendron and blueberry thickets. Two notable outcropping views are at Top Crag view and Flat Rock View (just before you reach the Scout trail). Nice connector hike.

Used it to connect to the Daniel Boone Scout Trail. Probably a good warmup for that one. It gives you some nice views from the top of the rock formations after some rough spots on the way up. It’s a pretty narrow trail.

Awesome trail. Started off with some up and down leading from the parking lot. As others have suggested, we added the out n back to storyteller rock, which was well worth it. After that turn up the mountain on craggy trail. Craggy is strenuous, and is as rocky as the name suggests. Fortunately there are several places to peel off and take in some views on rock outcropping. It was welcome given then fairly steep climb. At Flat Rock at the top, we turned down the mountain on Daniel Boone Scout trail, which we enjoyed for seeing some new terrain. Also would recommend this on wet days, as the footing on DBS Trail is less sketchy than going down on slick wet rocks

Awesome loop through a variety of terrains. I say loop because you should extend your hike by continuing straight on the Nuwati Trail and visiting the Storyteller Rock overlook. Then trace your steps coming back and turn right on Cragway Trail, ultimately taking the Daniel Boone Scout Trail to complete the loop back to Boone Fork Parking Lot. Cragway is strenuous and your heartbeat will be ripping but then you’re at the top and it’s sick... all downhill from there on the DB Scout Trail. Go get a beer.

you had me at “d as f.” Beautiful view from flat rock and lots to look at on the way up. Turned this into a little less than 4mi loop by taking Daniel Boone Scout trail back to Tanawa. Less slippery in the rain, too. Walked with purpose but stopped for snacks and lots of pictures; less than 3h for the loop.

This hike is d as f.

Definitely would recommend hiking shoes. OK for bigger dogs to enjoy the hike with you. Lots of sites and overviews.

We did the Nuwati, Cragway route to Calloway Peak. I was happy to see this trail finally open after being closed since late May of 2018. There are no obvious repairs but it doesn't matter since it's now reopened. I've only hiked on a weekend once before in the last 3 years due to the number of people. It was a friends birthday hike so we went for it and there were a bunch of people and crowded up top. Being a nice cool fall day, it was still worth it.

This trail is one of my favorites with convenient access, and I'm tired of it being closed. It gives a good steady warm-up before it gets steep, with some excellent elevation gain for gorgeous views. I love it and it's way past due for repairs so we can get back on it. I'm going to be more than a little disappointed if the powers that be decide to abandon it.

Nuwati was still closed when we went so we went around the alternative trail! Flat Rock View was really nice, but definitely not my favorite section of this whole network of trails in the State park. You can check out some views of FlatRock in this video: https://youtu.be/qcxxsqqEOvA
