Just did this tonight because the trail I wanted was closed . lots of water . lots of creeks . At least 5 wet crossings coming down the backside of the mountain . rain has brought an abundance of deadfall over the trail . Well marked and a great trail to get beginners from the easy to moderate transition. I went in rainy wet conditions and footing needs to be deliberate and mindful . Really enjoyed this trail . Views arent great at the summit . lots of deer .

Enjoyed this trail! Very peaceful day. Felt great to disconnect for a bit! Cell service was quite spotty. Started the hike around 10:15am. After stopping a few times (pup got tired and wanted to lay down and splash in the creek), ended up spending about 2hr 15 mins on the trail.

This is a nice hike that starts along the river and elevates from 328 feet to 709 feet. I would call it challenging for casual hikers and a good, enjoyable walk for the more serious hiker. There is an interesting dynamic between the recent control burn as well as storms over the past couple of years that have downed, broken, or uprooted otherwise healthy older trees. The trail is clearly marked and despite the recent Coronavirus closure, very well defined due to foot traffic. The hike is well laid out. The peak is right around the halfway point. So if there are issues with fatigue you can turn around and return with favorable downhill and flat conditions. When you finish your hike there are numerous places to dip your feet into the water along the shoreline although swimming is prohibited.

Great 4 mile trail. Was blocked in a few spots with trees but pretty easy to navigate around. Lake views that are cool. Campgrounds in walking distance. Some views at top but no real opening at top to chill.

Great trail! We walked it today and it was challenging enough to have a good time and get some fresh Carolina air amid all that is going on. Facilities are closed so bring wipes and find a thick tree. Kids - would recommend if you do the complete trail, they are old enough to enjoy it (10years plus)

Well-marked, moderate traffic today, only a few muddy spots which is really remarkable considering all the recent rain.

Great trail well marked. Nicely maintained. We somehow missed the view of the dam on the river. We hiked in December, foliage was down so good view but limited wildlife and birds. Staff was very helpful

Excellent track to walk. Moderate is a good term for it.

Great trail. There are some rocky areas, so wear appropriate shoes. When the leaves are off the trees, you have more of a view, but during the summer it's very limited.

Nice trail along the river and through open forest with good views of the mountain ridges and water. Saw many deer, squirrels and a hawk.

Nice, relaxing trail! This trail was recommended to me over Morrow Mountain Trail. The leaves were very pretty for this time of year, and there were not a lot of people on the trail for a Saturday. I would rate this as easy/moderate. Highly recommend!

The trail needs some maintenance and better marking. We had to turn back 2 miles in because we Lost the trail. It’s probably pretty in the fall when the leaves turn.

Trail is well marked and very peaceful in the mornings. It is actually 4.1 miles and not 3.8 as indicated. Have completed this trail many times and is less traveled in the early mornings. Plenty of wildlife to see.

Didn’t realize I passed the peak of Fall Mountain, it’s so low. Fallen trees everywhere. But quick 4 mile hike near water.

This is a fun trail. Lovely lake and river views, good trail conditions, and mostly shaded woodland hiking. There were a couple of recent blowdowns that required deviating from trail. The ups and downs on this trail are moderate and non-technical but I always use hiking poles, so that makes it easier. There are a lot of gnats on the trail, but it is summer in NC, so not unexpected, just use some picaridin. Combine this with the Three Rivers Trail for a bit longer hike.

A moderate trail for my experience. Winter season would have better views as leaves will be off the trees.
