A lovely loop for a wet day! There was nobody around and I enjoyed a peaceful run on this slightly undulating trail. The 4.4 miles includes the Pine Tree Loop which starts to the right off the sealed park road just after you cross the bridge, and I started with the longer branch which is the one further from the bridge. From just outside the fee area I got a 5.2 mile return run.

The “easy” rating does not apply to mountain biking, at least for this beginner couple. Easy to hike, yes; full of twisting roots that make it tough to ride without a decent amount of skill. Don’t be like us and try this trail as your first foray into mountain biking.

Thought this was a great trail running trail. We went counterclockwise and it was challenging wi hour being impossible. To avoid paying the day fee, we parked just up the street where the road splits off to the right. The first area was perfect for parking and running in. The run itself was a true trail rather than big gravel road. I think it gets decent mountain biker traffic but everyone we ran into was happy to share the trail.

Combined Pine Tree, Explorer, Chestnut Cove, Sleepy Gap and made a real hike of it! All great but didn’t prefer gravel road between Chestnut and Sleepy.

This is my all-time favorite after work/weekend dog walk hike. It’s a beautiful loop near Asheville that has a few places for dogs to get in the water. There are a couple of stream crossings with footbridges and although there are a couple of hills, it is not difficult at all. There’s a rhododendron tunnel and in the spring it’s easy to spot wildflowers including the lovely lady slippers.

Did the smaller loop but it was easy enough with a 5 year old.

Pretty, easy-going trail. Great for a hike in the woods with your dog. Close to Asheville and pretty well-marked except for a couple of crossings where I was glad I had the AllTrails app!
