Evergreen Nature Preserve Loop is a 1.8 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Charlotte, North Carolina that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, running, and bird watching and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
This loop consists of several small trails in the Evergreen Nature Preserve trail system. Trails include the Norland Loop Trail, Evergreen Trail, Clear Creek Trail, Tulip Tree Trail, and Potters Road Trail. The far end of the loop comes out at a neighborhood park, which includes basketball and tennis courts. There is a small paved parking area at the trail head, and a facility building with restrooms and a picnic shelter. There is a water fountain and bike rack as well. Accessibility: Users have reported that the first 0.25 miles of the loop is paved and then the surface turns to dirt (rocky, muddy, or uneven in places). The typical width varies from two feet to five feet. The natural surface trails may be too narrow for wheelchairs in some places. There are some moderately steep sections with an estimated grade up to 8% where wheelchair/mobility equipment or stroller users may need assistance.
Great hike. Follow the map on this app and you won’t have any issues. It was a bit muddy due to all the rain recently.
I really enjoyed my first visit to this nature preserve. Plenty of little trails off the main loop to get in extra steps. I felt safe on the trail and will visit again soon.
Easy and fun loop! Was a little muddy but not bad for this time of year.
Another hidden gem in urban Charlotte. I started at the Nature Preserve entrance on Norland Avenue (across from Eastway Middle School). Starting on the Norland Loop trail I ventured throughout the Tuliptree, Creek Crossing and Evergreen Trail ending at Sheffield Park. Trails loop around the nature preserve and cross at several points. There were a few muddy spots on the trail due to rain the previous day. No lake views other than the wetland bridge connecting Tarrington Avenue to Sheffield Park. I doubled back a few times to explore so my trek is not a straight route. Cozy park in East Charlotte with all the amenities for family fun and exploration. Would definitely return
We went on a warm afternoon in December. For the most part, there were very few people which was nice and the weather was perfect. We loved walking across the wooden planks over the streams. The incline was very mild. We opted not to see the cemetery halfway through the loop. This took only 45 minutes and was overall very pleasant.
