beautiful peaceful uncrowded trail. great to know it has opened up again..this was second time hiking this trail bringing a friend along to enjoy this part strenuous but peaceful hike. I did this hike just last Friday and hardly anyone on it which was perfect towards middle ofv tg he day. 1 hour going up n 1 hour going down..meditated on the bench looking out on the north side. very rejuvenating

This is one of my favorite trails. The Trout Lillies and the Trillium were in bloom.

A nice hike with really well-maintained switchbacks. A little muddy after the rain, but overall a nice easy hike (gradual incline throughout, not too strenuous!) Because of the recent chill however not great for the wildflowers.

It is a great trail. With many switchbacks, this trail is actual not hard at all. People are taking care of Social Distance rules. The south view from the top can find the famous Grandfather mountain, Sugar Mountain, Beech Mountain, and Mt. Mitchell. Really worth the drive all the way up here.

Gorgeous views that abound you after a lot of switchbacks and steady rise to the summit. A little muddy in a few spots and even became a shallow bed of running water but that didn’t last long and I was fine with my hiking boots. Hang out at the top and soak in the stunning views at 2 different viewpoints. Cute local artwork on the lower Beech trail too.

Pretty easy climb on the way up. There’s still some snow and muddy spots but it’s doable in tennis shoes. Great views on the top!

Awesome trail! Great incline and the views from the top are incredible. Not crowded whatsoever today, passed maybe 4 or 5 other hikers. The ice and snow made for a beautiful scene all the way up!

Absolutely stunning in the snow. Lots of switchbacks, roots, and rocks. Watch your footing. One section is basically walking through a creek. Wear over the ankle boots. Pictures in the snow font do it justice. Definitely recommend.

we did this trail yesterday and it was a beautiful easy hike. it was snowing and very windy which made it even more pretty. the hike through the forest on a snowy day felt like a winter wonderland! unfortunately the views at the summit were foggy so we didn't see anything. at 1 mile point you will see the 1st overlook! nice! be aware: the park closes at 6 pm and the trail closes at 5.45 pm. also secure your belonnings. the surrounding area is a little sketchy..
