Most of the trail I loved but we got confused a few times and if not for All Trails we would have gone the wrong way several times.

The trail was great. there were a few muddy spots that we had to walk around but for the most part it was fairly dry. we did the big Outer Loop and then the inner loop around the lake. this is an intermediate trail with lots of roots and inclines. there are places to walk around the lake that are easier walks. I did not know you could camp out here.

First off, this trail is not moderate. It’s easy. There are a good number of roots and you do have to cross the creek using some rocks that could be slippery. So I can see why they say moderate. But for a short, easy trail in town, it had a ton of little surprises that made foe a fun adventure. There’s a cool winding creek that runs along the first 1/4 of the Border Loop Trail section that has cool rock formations and sandbars. At the top of that trail you’ll notice the vegetation and trees suddenly change as if that piece of land was cleared generations ago. Go off the trail in a couple of spots up in that area and you’ll find some cool history. There are a couple of smaller lakes in the park that host some gorgeous mallard ducks and provide a nice sunset. There are also plenty of deer in the area. I ran into 6 of them 100 yds in front of me just grazing. So plenty of wildlife to look for. All in all, I was impressed with this little trail and will definitely be back whenever I need to get out for a few hrs.
