Beautiful waterfall! One of our favorites. We stop in every time we’re in Highlands. We went again today and the water was crazy. It’s been raining for days so it was really pumping.

Best kind of pull off attraction to see. You will have to go down a few stairs to get to the falls. It had been raining a lot so I think the falls were a bit bigger than normal. If they were is big as they were when I was there you WILL get wet going underneath them. Very Cool!

This is the perfect little path for older visitors and very little ones who can’t do a hike and but want to see one of our waterfalls up close and walk behind it. We come a few times a year to check it out and show our visiting friends and family.

The path to Dry Falls is a walk with a handrail along well constructed wooden stairs and rocks. I wouldn’t consider it a hike. Dry Falls is a wonderful spot for first time visitors to the area though I often return every year for the beautiful scenery and sounds of rushing waters, especially in the springtime when the water falling is heaviest. Kids of all ages enjoy walking into the mist behind Dry Falls which hopefully you figured out is not dry.

Super cool waterfall near Highlands, NC. I've been here twice. Once, in November, the walkway behind the falls was closed. Earlier this spring, in May, the walkway was open. Totally worth getting splashed!

The falls are beautiful, and the trail lets you walk behind them. It's not a hike, though, just stairs down to the falls and back.

Astonishing to walk under the waterfall. There is also some great plants. we saw stinging nettle, wild hydrangea, wild ginger and dandelion.

I came here last year (late July) with some friends. While I wouldn't consider it a hike, the view of the falls and the river is stunning. It's easily accessible (if you don't mind a lot of stairs), and it's neat being able to walk underneath the falls. We also had a dog with us (on a leash) and saw several other dogs. We went at a busier time, but the people (from young kids to people in their 60s or so) didn't distract from the view and everyone was courteous and just enjoyed the view.

I wouldn't really call this a hike. It is a short decent via stair case to the falls below. It is a great waterfall and I'm upset to see some people only gave it 3 stars. This is most definitely a 5 star view. The ONLY downside is it's over in about 15-20 minutes. After your short walk down to the falls you have the ability to walk under it while remaining dry. This may be why it's called Dry Falls. If you in the area this is a must see and is very kid friendly.
