I wouldn't necessarily call this a "hike." a walk in the woods is more apt. it's not appropriately marked, which is surprising for such a high volume park, and there were so many people on a Tuesday, that it made it difficult to enjoy an otherwise beautiful Pisgah. this trail also follows parallel to the main road, so you can hear traffic the entire time. fun for kids to get in water, I suppose, but otherwise recommend some of the other hikes in the area.

Moderate trail. Not a lot of sights to see, but enjoyable hike.

This trail should be named the North Slope Trail. There are numerous trails within the Davidson Campground area and this does connect to the Exercise Trail. Both well maintained and well trafficked. Starting to get humid and buggy around water sources. Some uphill but not difficult. A good starter hike before attempting harder trails

My family and I had a wonderful time hiking this! The first part of the north slope is uphill but nothing bad. Nothing says North Davidson River trail but we followed the trail map and we found our way. We parked at the visitor station and walked on the exercise trail til we went to to main road and crossed over. You will go over a bridge and pass a beautiful church on your left. Then go right and look for a trail opening on your left. 6yr old and 9yr old were with us and did fine.

This trail was amazing. Definitely on the easier side of moderately difficult, but a couple inclines to get your heart pumping. Beautiful scenery and very peaceful. Highly recommend to anyone looking for something a little bit easier.

What a beautiful day to be outside! The trail head is actually begins in the parking lot at the visitor center. Easy walking some climbing when you get onto the North Shore section. Spring is certainly around the corner with trees in bud and a few flowers. I did not see or find a waterfall though.

The trail is well shaded. We went on 1/1, temp was good for hiking but the ground was mushy and in places very muddy. It was a comfortable hike with limited climbing. I would rate the trail easy to only slightly moderate.

What a gorgeous trail! We hiked it on Sept. 1, and the weather was perfect. We started with the ascent up the mountain and returned via the river. The trail was manageable even for our 10-year-old dog.

This trail is a nice relaxing scenic walk. What I love about Davidson River Campground is that there are so many trails you can access without driving anywhere. There are very easy ones, to some very steep ones like the Art Lobe trail. I can invite friends of all fitness levels and spend time hiking and enjoy campsite activities after.

Very easy hike, takes less than an hour & a half to complete. Best to park at the visitor center and use Exercise Trail. Nice raised walkway and cool suspension bridge. Trail follows alongside the river and campground where there’s a nice swimming spot. Dog and bike friendly.

If you staying at the campground and just start walking around to visit the Ranger Station or see the Church, all you have to do is walk/bike the front of the northslope and you will finish it all. Didn't realize that I had completed it all in couple of walkabouts while staying there. Nice walk, take the dog or bike see lots of others just doing the same.

This area is full of activities for the family. This is one of my favorite camping places(Davidson river campground/pisgah national forest). The camping loops are paved and equipped with fire rings and tent pads. There are 2 bath/shower houses on each loop and they are clean! The trout fishing is amazing and the trails range from easy to difficult. If you camp here and you have younger kids be sure to visit the fish hatchery and looking glass falls. Tubing is also available during summer months but water levels can be a bit low depending on rainfall. Firewood is for sale at the gate and the staff are super friendly. 5+ stars!!
