Loved this hike it was marvelous. There’s a few different trails, I this the crowders mountain trail ( there’s the pinnacle ) which includes the top of the mountain trail round trip is a 5ish mile. I started on the top of the mountain trail where the bridge is out and there’s some rock climbing in the way. Came down the other way which was smoother for the way down, also it has a stairs that sounds terrible for the way up. Will do it again.

6/24/20 Rocktop Trail Very nice day for a hike. Park was crowded. A nice gentle breeze and plenty of shade from the trees. Be mindful of the trail makers on the trees easy to get off course if it your first time. Trail maintenance was ok...trash and dog dung in concentrated areas of the trail.

Beautiful trail, but it gets busy and would recommend going early. Would love to come back when the peak is open!

Great hike for the family. Our small dog did fine, but had to carry in some spots. Was a little over 5 miles from park office.

Definitely the best hike in Crowders Mountain. I liked the reverse of this loop, the uphill portion is over with quickly. The views along the top are great and plentiful!

Great trail for my wife and I (over 55 and beginner hikers). Fantastic view at the top. We were pretty wasted after the round trip, but it was perfect for our fitness level. Lots of friendly people everywhere.

This is the one and only hike I take now! If I had one recommendation I would say go up the Rocktop Trail side and go down the Crowder's Trail side. The rocks are fun going up and will give you a good workout. The stairs on the other hand are much more enjoyable going down as there are over 300 steps. :) Either way, this is a very enjoyable trail that will, at most, take you about 3 hours to complete round trip!

Great trail, well marked. Followed the orange blazes to the scenic lookout and followed the red/blue blazes (gravel service road) to loop back to the parking lot. Bathrooms were available at the parking lot as well. Total distance was under 4 miles.

My favorite nearby (w/in 40min) trail for training for the likes of a Kili trip. Pleasant hike, good uphill workout, and some scrambling to keep you honest. IMHO, only those with good balance should attempt the Rocky Top trail portion.

This trail was significantly harder than they let on. Be ye not confused. There are portions of it that are severely poorly blazed and you basically have to look for painted marks or tags and scramble your way over to the dot then look for the next dot and scramble toward it. It’s especially problematic this time of year when leaves cover the trails. There were so many unofficial trails that had been worn into the ground next to the real trails that it was often difficult to know what’s the real trail without blazes. And there’s some significant scrambling and multiple areas of the Rockytop trails. (NOTE: the first big bolder field you come to, there are no blazes at a to help you navigate the area and I just wondered around until I found it. Tip: the trail goes to the left and through the rocks.) Crowder’s trail is fairly easy but should still be categorized as moderate due to how rocky it is. It requires some work. Personally, I think Rockytop should be categorized as hard and I’m an experienced hiker. It requires some technical work and could be scary at points to the inexperienced.

Tough trail but a great training hike none the less. Rocky and definitely want to have trekking poles for stability. Stay on trail as going off can prove fatal. Can’t wait to come back and do it again!
