Great trail, and share the sentiments of everyone else, however it is very hard to find the trailhead. It is behind the Valley Crucis conference center, and behind a few buildings. Not very well marked at all.

Beautiful short trail to an amazing waterfall! Worth the hike up hill!

Turn in at the church and drive up to the extended parking for the waterfall trail. The falls are not well marked at entrance, but falls trail is very clear once parked. The walk is short but fairly steep. There are three benches for a rest on the way up. Then, there is a short walk down to the falls, which are impressive! Great payoff for kid hikers!

Loved this hike! Perfect late in the day or afternoon stroll kind of hike with the perfect little waterfall at the end. As an App State I never heard of this falls and was pleasantly surprised. Would definitely do it again.

Hung up my hammock there today, perfect spot to relax and let my dog roam a little on her long lead. Peaceful, quiet, hidden gem. One nice feature was climbing up to the waterfall, and a nice easy descent back to the car.

Nice hike with beautiful falls. Rocks are slippery though so a bit difficult with dog and kids who wanted to climb.

11/5/17: Nice trail. Not too intense. Enjoyable. Waterfalls are gorgeous.

Pretty trail...it's either up or down (and some steep), not much flat. Made it easily with kids 9, 7, & 4. Falls are .5 miles in. Waterfall had lots of places to play and explore and we can easily see ourselves coming back in the summer to take a dip.

Great little hike. About a mile to the falls. Beautiful views. I didn't hear anything while walking, which was kind of weird, no birds or other animals. Sat at the falls for a while.

Short and uneventful. Pretty waterfall at the end, but otherwise nothing special.

Easy, wide trail. Nice waterfall. Opportunity to get your feet wet. Great for dogs and off the beaten path. So it crowded, even on weekend.

Great short hike with our 2 boys, ages 9 & 11 - trail is wide and maintained with gravel mostly. Careful on the slick rocks around the falls! Parking close to trail head, takes 1-2 hours with kids, depending on how long you stop along the way and spend time at the falls

Definitely a calf burner! Beautiful falls though.

Probably great in the afternoon for cooling off, however, it was a wonderful place to visit just after sunrise.

The description says it is near Banner Elk, but it is actually next to Valle Crucis. After parking at the church a very nice short and could be muddy trail lead to a wonderful waterfall. If you want to extend your hike continue on the trail. It leads on in the very nice forest toward a place called Hermitage. A big rain forced me to turn back before I reached it so I am not sure what it is exactly. The original mast store is less than 2 miles away from this place so you might want to visit it also.

Waterfall was beautiful but could use a little maintenance.

Over the years my family (including babies and grandparents in their 80s) have really enjoyed this hike and playing in the falls at the end. The "big kids" really love climbing up and down the rocks. We have never had trouble parking and the Episcopal Mission does a bagpipe camp so if you hit it at the right time you can hear bag pipes playing on your walk back :)
