Mount Buckley via Clingmans Dome Bypass Trail is a 1.7 mile loop trail located near Bryson City, North Carolina that features a great forest setting and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and walking.
Clingmans Dome to Jenkins Knob.
Forgot to stop recording.... Wanted to HIGHLY recommend this loop as a way to the clingmans dome tower from the parking lot. The paved path part of this loop is the straight shot from pkg to twr and was crowded. The non - paved part was WAY less crowded and beautiful.
This might be one of my favorite hikes. The bypass and segment of the Appalachian trail are stunning, quiet and submerse you in the woods. Highly recommend! (Ignore that I forgot to stop the recording)
This well marked trail is a great way to avoid the crowds. Pretty wet in some parts
Would consider taking the trail up to the dome and then paved trail down. Trail was great. Very rocky but very few people and we can say we walked the Appalachian
We were so happy we took this route vs the crowded paved path. Barely anyone on this side and much more enjoyable. requires some effort as you ascend a rocky path but its all shade. Once to the top, it was so crowded and loud, we didn't want to stay more than two minutes. The views were great but not worth fighting the crowds. Also parking was a nightmare at 11am and worse at 3pm when we left.
Enjoyed taking the bypass trail up and the paved trail down. Perfect day!!
We took the paved portion on the way up and the hike portion on the way back down. The paved portion is crowded but the hike portion was super secluded. The trees, moss, rocks, and flowers are beautiful on the hike portion. And it's a good way to get away from the crowds. Highly recommended.
