The 1st part of the trail all the way to where Art Loeb connects with Catheys Creek Rd. From there its walking on gravel road for a long time.4 miles about and Then the Davidson Trail was bush whacking the entire time, we got off and walked the road.

The DRT portion of this loop (approx 4 miles) is just walking on the road. Please let me know if I’m missing something.

Good mix of easy to strenuous. I began at the Fish Hatchery to Butter Gap, which is a pleasant walk primarily near the stream, with some beautiful waterfalls and arched pathways of rhododendron and mountain laurel. Toward the Art Loeb junction it becomes more of a climb. The Art Loeb section had some pretty strenuous sections. You have to walk down the road about a mile to pick up Long Creek. This begins with a very easy section, then gets more difficult the last mile to get back on Butter Gap.Well marked.

This is a great easy trail for the family! So many camping spots along the way, so don’t just stop at the first one. We walked it backwards and did John’s point 4.5 Mile loop but if you have any questions just stop at the visitors centers, those guys are awesome.
