This is a spectacular hike!

First, let’s all thank Nola for writing the first review below... Thanks Nola!

The prior reviews are all true. This little hike packs it all in! Outstanding views, varied terrain, varied flora and fauna.

You’d be hard pressed to find a hike this short with such a variety of everything. It goes from pine forest to wild flower meadows to blueberry bushes all within a mile.

Maybe this hike should remain a secret?

Great hike with beautiful views. Lots of flowers. Took us a long time because we stopped so many times and for such long times.

Can't believe there are no signs for this wonderful hike with stunning views along the way. But Thank you Alltrails app for the help!! Highly recommended, and a moderate climb with some different terrain and vegetation along the path. There is what appears to be a communal hut being built along the way.

There are some really great lookout spots in offshoots from the trail, including some 330 degree views. Almost 360!

The trail was covered with snow today. It was beautiful but cold as the wind was strong too.
We were the only ones on the trail because there was ice on the road and the ranger closed the road behind us.

fun diverse hike. We didn't do the entire trail, just to the overlook and back just over half way. Different terrain types, from dry forested to wet lush forest, meadow with blueberries and low bushes. Beautiful overlook back toward Montreat and reservoir and up toward parkway.

I can't believe that I am the first person to write a review on this gorgeous hike. First of all today was really hot, but there is lots of places on this trail that are shaded and cool. Some areas are in the sun, with butterflies, blueberries, gorgeous views and a couple of nice places to eat lunch. The trail elevation gain goes up and down, but nothing too difficult. There are areas with roots and rocks and then areas that are smooth enough to ride a bike. A fresh water spring is located on the trail. There are trees and birds that you would not see in lower altitudes. Overall, I think this has now become one of my favorite trails.
