Nice hike, look forward to it in the spring when everything is green! A lot of elevation, a lot of steps, but some beautiful vantage points and a good bit of history too. We took our dog, we tend to keep her off leash but be mindful you cross 2 parking lots on the trail. And trail is narrow most of it. Overall good hike (took 4 adults, 2 dogs and a toddler)

This trail is amazing!!! It’s definitely moderate and a good one for a beginner who wants a challenge or a novice. Definitely follow the signs as there was one stretch where I thought it was the trail and it wasn’t and had to backtrack. It was foggy when I went so I am sure the views are good but I just didn’t see any.

Fun trail but I’d definitely rate it as moderate skill. Also as you enter the trail there is conflicting directions. Follow for the “buck springs overlook” trail, not the ‘buck springs” trail if you want to got the way this trail is pictured as. The other just “buck springs” trail takes you the opposite direction

stop here 9-26-17. stunning area, buck springs gap overlook is located at Mile Post 407.6. this overlook has a lot to offer. not only do you get a super overlook that you have to walk 500 feet too but the another 10th of a mile there is the buck springs hunting lodge that was built by george vanderbilt in the 1890s. yes, the same vanderbilt of the Baltimore mansion in asheville). there was a few outbuildings tool on being a spring house used to store perishable. sadly the lodge was removed in 1963 but some of the foundation and the spring house still exist. making this a bonus stop. bring a book, lunch or maybe some headphone to listen to some music while you enjoy the peace and beauty of this spot.

A lovely trail - made into a loop by following MTS and Buck Creek Lodge trail to Mt Pisgah Trail, then Campground Trail on the way back.

We used a portion of this trail as a DIY loop, suggested by a park ranger. It’s the hike you take your Mom and Dad on LOL! She added that part at the end of our conversation. When you start on this from Mt. Pisgah parking, hike to Pisgah Inn, cross BRP to Mount Pisgah Trail, and back to Mt. Pisgah parking, you end up with about 3 miles. (With the little side trip overlook from the Pilot Rock Trail.) We had planned to go on up Mt. Pisgah, but we got caught in the rain and it’s too slick coming down. This loop is easy, but scenic. You’re walking on either side of the BRP, so you hear the cars.

Great 1 hour hike. The trail is well maintained but has narrowed a bit in spots over the past few years. Easy enough to hike with an 8 month old in a backpack carrier. Family friendly, not too busy.

This trail is beautiful to walk on there are a few lookouts that you can stop at along the way. I when to little bald mountain also which branches off from buck spring trail. It is a little steep but well worth it as the summit is amazing.
