Bear Swamp Trail to Dam Site Loop Trail is a 3.4 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Hollister, North Carolina that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, trail running, and birding and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

Directions from Roanoke Rapids, NC: Twenty-one miles southwest of Roanoke Rapids and 23 miles north of Rocky Mount. From I-95 follow NC 48 to SR 1002 between Brinkleyville and Ringwood. Turn west on to SR 1002 to park office. (This route also loops around to the SR 1322 entrance.) OR From I-95 follow NC 48 to NC 561 turning west and traveling to SR 1322. Head south on SR 1322 to park entrance. The quickest way to reach this trail is to park at the SR 1002 entrance. Begin on Summit Loop Trail traveling north for approximately 1.5 miles where you will see Dam Site Loop Trail branch right.

so the trail maps in the ranger office are old. ask for the map for bikers and you will get a more accurate map. because we had that inaccurate we got off the bear trail and kept walking walking walking. we turned around and went back, went to the ranger office and got the up to date biking map.

One of the most interesting trails in Medoc Mtn State Park, the Dam Site loop trail features two dam sites, including a rock dam from an old mill site. Adds flavor to a combination of several of the trails. This one is not to miss if you visit the park.
