Getting to this and other close by trail heads requires going on a gravel/dirt road for a brief ways so just be aware before heading out if you have a low clearance vehicle. Nothing too extravagant but very nice to get some sunshine and exercise with the pup. (Didn’t have time for full trail off of here) Not much shade/coverage so be aware on hot days!

This is a short and rather unremarkable loop. We made our way about 2 miles from the end of pavement up the bumpy (but not too bad) forest service road to the trail head. You start in a nice field used by horseback riders/campers. Trail climbs about 400-500 feet up through young hardwoods, with a lot of Yellow Poplars. At the top, you come back down on an old mountain road, most likely originally cut for logging. The downslope goes through an area nearly clear cut years ago, back to join the forest road you started out on.

Very few people, which is great. But nothing to make this trail too interesting- majority of the trail was a gravel road.

Parking across the road from Horse camp entrance and trail head is right there to left of the entrance gate. Trail is blazed blue in trees at intersections. Starts to get a little steeper before you encounter the road. Turn right into road and it will bring you back down to the forest road, turn right again and it's about .25 mile or so back to trailhead. Nice, easy and very quiet. On the way back down on the road, there is a turn to the right that goes uphill, I did not explore where this leads but went up a little ways for some decent views. Enjoy!
