HikingGreat!

Awesome trail with multiple terrains—easy creek crossing, fun hills, bridges, and beautiful woods. Copperheads live here, so keep an eye on your footing (learned this the hard way!). If you connect Battle Park to Battle Branch and finish with Bolin Creek’s entrance at Stratford Hills, it’s exactly a 5K.

Very cool. Landscape changes over time with a creek, a small hill and quite a few small elevation changes. Also lots of flowers to see in spring.

Rocky and not well marked but a good trail especially once you get to know it. The annoying part was that there were a lot of branches that lead you into someone’s back yard and you can’t tell if forks take you on the trail or to no where. A clean set of signs and some maintenance would make it a great attraction. The large rocks make it difficult to run on.

Great easy hike in Chapel Hill, lets you get away from it all, runs from the Community Center to the edge of Battle Park and combined with Forest Theater and surrounding trails makes a really nice outing. Good for trail runs, dog walks and nature trips, enjoy!

More than a stroll but less than a full on hike, this little ditty takes you from Park to Forest back to Park again, ending in the UNC campus, were you were a short walk from a brewski. Beware the copperheads and bumblebees, The latter being more common.

Yes it was muddy after 8-9 days of raining, but it's passable. I knocked one star off because as you get farther down the trail, it stops telling you where to go in the forks. You have to figure it out on your own. I made it to the Battle Park and walked all the trails in there until I reached another park entrance (Botanical Gardens?). It was after hiking down from solitary hill. That was 3.17 miles round trip.

Pleasant trail, bubbling stream, several side trails, some elevation changes.
