Sadly, more than half of the paved outfall path has been eradicated by the construction of a new housing development. There is no path to Womble Park any more, and no indication of when (or even whether) it will ever be rebuilt. Even if it is, the lovely woods and fields will NEVER return, for they have all been removed in the name if PROFIT. Welcome to Holly Springs, where trees always take a backseat to "progress."

Love this area, great for child and pet friendly hikes. Short, well maintained loop. Decent for local biking, but lots of geocaching so keep your head up!

Combined with the walk or run around the lake, this is a great way to get out and enjoy nature and the cool breeze off the lake. The greenway is paved, so you can walk or ride a bike down to the lake. It passes by a few developments, and except for the parts that are right next to homeowner backyards, most of the pine thickets give you a sense of being in the forest. Holly Springs has done a good job of planning to protect the great outside. The greenway is 1.3 miles and the walk around the lake about 2.1 miles, so about a 4.7 mile route from start to finish.

I have lived by this trail for many years, kid friendly, and great during the fall months.
