Balsam Range Little Sam Knob Loop Trail is a 8.7 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Big East Fork, North Carolina that features a great forest setting and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from March until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

This is a loop trail that goes around Little Sam's Knob and can be extended by going up Sam's Knob.

I could not do the whole loop, but it is really worth extending your Sam Knob visit and make it into a whole day hike. After visiting the knob head towards the Flat Laurel Creek, which is a highland creek with nice boulders and small waterfalls. You can turn left and go back to the parking area or turn right and explore more. Soon you will find a very nice large cataract and some view (see recording). If your party have 2 cars, just continue until you hit Lake Logan road, where you can park one of the cars.
