Well maintained trail and not really “hard”. There’s some elevation gain, but the trail is in good condition. Lots of great camp sites along the way but not a ton of water. The second half doesn’t have many features, but I’m sure the views are much better in times outside of spring/summer.

Did an out and back today from 475 to Farlow Gap. The incline is pretty intense and there isn't much flat service, but the payoff at the summit is worth it. The trees are not full of leaves so you have an almost 360 degree view. The small rock scramble on the way was fun. We met a young couple doing the entire trail today, we hope they made it to Davidson River before dark! I would recommend this trail to anyone who enjoys a climb, if not there are plenty of other trails in Pisgah to enjoy.

This is a great hike! Started at 475 and headed up Art Loeb, following clockwise to Farlow Gap (didn't go all they way up to the Parkway) and the upper portion of Daniel Ridge. The first 6 miles are the most intense with great ascent and decent portions and some terrific views. The second half of the hike is more mellow but offers lots of water and beautiful landscape. Had to hit the road to get back to the car but the rest of the day made it sufferable.
