a little muddy in spots but a fantastic view - follow signs to Rocky Bald

Steep up the first 2 miles then levels out and was very nice hike!

I was with 3 little kids and it was too long for us. We cane back half way. The forest and flowers were beautiful! Cane across only with a couple of people who were doing a big portion of the Appalachian!

This hike is a slightly longer and slightly more strenuous alternative to the popular Wesser Bald hike that departs from the same trailhead. Follow the Appalachian Trail to a clearly marked intersection with the Rocky Bald spur, then follow the blue blazes to the summit.

I selected this trail because I wanted to do 10 miles and this trail was supposed to be easy. Parts of it were; parts of it weren't. There really is no reason to do this trail rather than any other--there is only one lookout point that is easy to find with a decent view. You pass several camp sites and one shelter, all with water, so it's a nice trail on which to take breaks or have lunch if you don't need a view. The trailhead is easy to find. Take a look at the elevation chart before doing this hike--there are significant up and down hills even though it's an "easy" trail. I got my 10 miles in by going the other direction from the trail head over to Wesser Bald.
