American Tobacco Trail from Southern Terminus is a 22.1 mile heavily trafficked point-to-point trail located near New Hill, North Carolina that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

October 27, 2020October 26, 2020October 22, 2020I prefer this trail from Herndon Park to the southern entrance in New Hill as an out and back ride. It has bathrooms, water fountains, well maintained rest areas and even a tool repair center for your bike. Past mile 10 to 0 there are many more roads to cross, which are busier. You leave the beauty of nature and enter a more city like environment. There was also a detour on our last few northern miles which was confusing and lead us out onto the road. The lower portion of the trail varies from paved to a natural, mostly packed ground. I enjoy this trail very much and am sad to see more housing being built so close to the trail.

August 17, 2020Great cycling trail!! Even the part that isn’t paved is good for road tires. Almost completely shady. Motorists are courteous when the trail crosses a road. I have done most of the trail and love it but i understand the northern end is pretty urban

July 14, 2020Started at Herndon park - mile 10 and rode to the end at mile 23. Flat, tree covered, paved and easy to bike. Water fountains, restrooms and picnic tables along the way.
