Beautiful trail, but seemed longer than guides said? My IPhone registered total walk as 13.4 miles round trip (and we drove the extra three miles up the gravel road which was not counted.) should’ve been ~10ish. Kinda boring although pretty. Goes on flat and straight for miles. Gets steep for the last near mile.

As SOON as we reached the summit- the gunfire started. It sounded close-really close. It continued the entire time we were up there, around 20 minutes. It stopped as soon as we got down the hill about five minutes. Odd coincidence. We were planning to camp but only saw a space for a fire pit but not a designated camp site...and the gunfire was disconcerting.

Great for those who love amphibians and interesting mushrooms and plants. Lots of toads, salamanders and other critters on the trail. Saw several campsites along the road. Not too busy either.
