This is a beautiful little hidden gem. Because it was winter and the trails were snowy, it was easy to also follow the unblazed loop back around White Lake. This trail added about 2.5 miles but they were well worth it!

I wanted to continue on the blue trail but turned back because it was overgrown.

Easy trail, but a bit challenging to know where you’re going. This app was a great help.

Great location for a hike during COVID. Tried this spot after other more popular locations were packed with cars. Not looking for a difficult hike as I had a 4 year old and a dog. Did not see many people and an easy walk. Make sure you have your phone battery charged as you will need to check your location on the map a few times to figure out where to go. First time I went off trail a few times and needed GPS to see how to get back. Part of the trail goes over private property but only briefly. Muddy in spots crossing the bog. Towards the beginning of the trail to the right has a Blair Witch vibe. Enjoyed the walk so went back again with the family yesterday.

Great trail. However, when I got to the end of the lake to start the second part of the loop back to the parking lot there were NO TRESPASSING signs all over the place. I’m a little confused because the trail map says the loop is part of the CNY Land Trust.

Walking

Loved it. Walked through endless cyprus trees, saw lots of evidence of beavers gnashing on the fallen trees, and didn't see another person. That being said, I would not do this hike alone. Also, make sure your phone location services are turned on because there were times we went off the unmarked trail. Lastly, definitely need waterproof footwear during the wet months.

beautiful area! nice easy hike. Some trails are not marked so keep the water to your left. A tiny bit of managable mud half way through. A couple very nice views and pine areas. Well maintained.

Other than the yellow-blazed loop, trail markings here are almost non-existent. It's easy to find yourself on private property. I am glad I had a tracker on my phone so I could find my way out.

Did a figure eight after heading west out of parking lot. Hansel and gretel vibes.

Pretty nice hike. A little noisier than I would have liked between lawnmower from a home on Woodchuck Hill Rd and the sound of gunfire from the DeWitt Rod and Gun club. But a nice secluded hike. We only saw 2 other people the whole time. Watch for ticks! Found one on my wife and 2 on our dog afterwards. But the pond and wetland flora were amazing. Incredible diversity if you are into plants — we counted a dozen species of ferns, some of which I have not seen in the wild here in CNY. A hidden gem!

this shaded Trail is short but sweet. There's a couple of slight inclines that really are not that bad at all. it's quiet and you can hear a lot of birds.
