Hiking

As others mention, this is really more a walk than a hike. Perfectly fine if you just want a walk in the woods, but otherwise not much interesting nor engaging nor challenging about this walk. Having explored a few hiking trails in Westchester, I'd rank this towards the bottom.

Hiking

It was well marked. Very easy to follow. There is a cost for parking but they also provide you with a really helpful map if you ask. We walked very leisurely and the total time it took us to complete this loop was approximately 5 hours. We stopped to have lunch. I recommend packing a sandwich, snacks, and a hot drink.

Lots of fun detouring onto Rock Trail, fresh tracks. Very diverse terrain. Great winter hike— just some icy spots as the snow has melted and refrozen.

Pretty basic. Very easy. More of a nature walk than hike, but nice trail.

First to Review

Ward Pound Ridge’s Red Trail is a wooded 5+ mile loop with a ton of side trail options. The terrain interchanges between the many hills and flat straight aways. Can run/walk side-by-side with another person. Very rocky and must be careful (with the right grippy shoes) after a rain or when it’s wet season. Aside: It’s with great reason this part of Ward Pound Ridge has been given it’s designated name for its race Raven Rock. You can’t miss the ravens or rocks.
