TICK INFESTED CURRENTLY! Had to brush off over 20 ticks from my dog at least 15 from myself. Pulled another 3 from him with tweezers that I'm very glad I had with me. My recording shows my return from the section where i brushed 4 off of each of us in one check. I hate to give a 1 star to a trail with a few of Harriman State Park's best views, but I'm definitely never going past the shelter by bald rocks every again. Have never had this many ticks around in years of hiking in this area and this is my first time on this section of the Ramapo Dunderburg trail. I recommend starting at the southern end and turning around about 3 miles past the parking lot/road that the trail intersects with.

Great overnight hike: Tuxedo to Tom Jones and back! Some challenging uphill scrambles (with packs) but great views and good camping.

planned on a short loop to West Mountain, went 1/2 mile down the wrong side , caught this trail for a loop around to the correct trail ended up being a tough 3 1/2 miles that looks like the steepest part of the trail which was not easy with my heavy pack ( planned on easy overnight ) all in all it was well worth it with the views !

Great hike with amazing views. Rocky with lots of up and down and occasional scramble making it a good amount of work with a full overnight pack. Started in Tuxedo Park and overnighted at Brien Shelter.

For a rookie, it was easy to follow the trail with a map, very well marked. Some challenging uphill terrain, but plenty of opportunities to rest. Stopped at Tom Jones coming from Tuxedo train station.

Well marked, clean and clear and bonus of free parking by the preserve. Only did three miles this time but will be returning to go further.

We took this trail from the Tom Jones Shelter to the Tuxedo Train Station. It offered some challenging, but not overly so, terrain with wonderful views. Highly recommend.

I was in town on business and had a chance to do this trail, and it was great. The trail is very challenging and offers great views of the Hudson.

A trail that offers a lot of diversity. Oldest blazed trail in the park. Started in tuxedo and finished on 9w. Good for a weekend backpack trip
