Truax Trail is a 2.4 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Schenectady, New York that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
The Albany Pine Bush Preserve contains nearly 18 miles of official marked, multiple-use trails. Most trails are considered easy to moderate and vary from wide open sandy trails to narrow, grassy woodland passages. The topography is generally flat with gradual slopes up and down the natural sand dunes.
There is minimal shade on this trail, bring water. This trail (without connecting to Kings Highway Barrens) is NOT a loop.
From Central Ave, take Rt 155 South to Old State Road. Follow Old State to Kings Rd. Trailhead and parking on right in about 100 yards.
took the green trail today- it was absolutely peaceful. a bit icey at spots but thats to be expected
part of the 20 mile Pinebush challenge. not good for dogs due to quantity of broken glass. some pretty dune views, but also highway noise.
A lot of broken glass at start of trail... left because could hear large number of gun shots
I enjoyed it but only .4 miles in there were signs that the public was not allowed to continue the trail. It was nice up until that point but very disappointed
