This hike is great for young families that enjoy steady but not necessarily overly strenuous uphill hikes. Beautiful lookout at the top. This is a short hike; depending on your pace and the length of time at the top, ~45-75 minutes up and ~25-35 minutes down.

A short but difficult hike. Loved getting my heart rate up and enjoying the view, but dang this is one straight uphill walk!

Great short hike if you looking just to get out there... two steep parts but it’s worth it in the end.... the view is amazing over the lake ... I look forward to going back during the winter as it looks like a great snow shoe trail ...

Awesome hike. It is a great trail for anyone who is looking for a gorgeous view at the top. Would hike again.

great hike, was definitely moderate for 68 and 64 year olds, but not too bad. GREAT views at the top!!!

Was a great hike. Not a very long hike, the beginning was steep then it was fine after that with many switchbacks. For such a short hike to the top the view was beautiful. On a clear day the lake looked so blue and you could listen to the birds singing. My mom and I ate lunch at the top and hung out for a bit. A great hike!

You will not find many better view for the effort than this short hike in Bolton. The first 2/3 are a constant climb - moderately steep but nothing too excruciating. There is a bench at the summit as well as a side trail to Edgecomb Pond.

This was a great hike! Some steepness but so worth it once you see the view!

Love this hike! This was our second time up and was just as beautiful as the first time. Very clean, good trails. Some steep parts in the beginning but then it’s not too bad after that. Great views at the top!!

Hiked this on a beautiful Spring day with my teenage SILs! We made it up with plenty of rests in about 32 minutes and back down in probably half of that. A bit strenuous in parts but also a good amount of switchbacks. The view at the top was really worth the climb and measures up to the reviews! It was also nice to enjoy the benches and take in the greenery and bird sounds on the way up as well as the peaceful scenery at the top. Don't forget to wear protection from those black flies this time of year! :-)

The BEST value hike in New York State (amount of work you out in vs. view)!!!!!

The first 1/2 of the hike is very steep with the switchbacks but the view at the end makes it worth it. You are rewarded with one of the most beautiful, awe-inspiring views of the lake overlooking Bolton. We didn't want to leave. On the way back we visited a small lake/marsh where frogs were incessantly croaking that sounded like ducks quacking (in late April).

Easy, wide trail perfect for beginners, kids. One of the best views of the lake. Popular and maybe crowded. 20 minutes (in shape hiker), 45 min (out of shape hiker).

A short sweet hike with a lot of bang for your buck. Beautiful views. Moderately steep the first half. Trail is packed snow and ice right now, needed spikes but not snowshoes.

The views were much better than anticipated! There’s a nice little bench at the top too which makes for a great lunch spot. Definitely a nice short worthwhile adventure. Some steep parts but flattens out near the top

This was a nice quick winter hike that had great views. The trail was hard packed down.

I'm sure the trail itself is lovely but a little ways past the trail head we were greeted by a bright yellow "Trail Closed Violators Will be Prosecuted" sign on the same tree that several trail markers were posted on.
The trail is listed as accessible all year which is why we added it to our list so we were a little surprised and taken aback by this. The log shows several visitors as recently as the previous day- very odd. We erred on the side of caution and decided to forgo our trek but sure were confused.

Beautiful views of Lake George

Short and easy with several stops with park benches on which to sit if you need that. Straight to top with no stopping was about 20 - 25 min. Only about 6 parking spaces at trailhead and this place is popular, even on a Thursday morning in mid October. Lot was full. Amazing views and even saw 2 soaring eagles at summit. Awesome. This is a great hike for dogs and kids and those totally new to climbing or out of shape. Pair it with the climb to Thomas Mountain summit (trailhead is a 3.6 mile drive north) and you can easily do 2 different summits in a half day, both being super rewarding with terrific views. The cabin at the top of Thomas is awesome.

Beautiful views of Lake George. Short somewhat steep climb for the first 2/3 to 3/4 of the way up. Easy trail to follow.

I'd rate this trail as easy, it's a great hike for beginners (there are definitely steep parts, but that's the Adirondacks in general and shouldn't deter you). We took our friend who is not a hiker up and it took him about 50 minutes. The views of Lake George are great for a pretty minimal effort.

Quick day hike with some steep slopes, that reward you with some beautiful views of Lake George.

It was definitely one of the easiest hikes I have taken, with a few steep slopes here and there. It was a quick in-and-out, but with a GREAT view!

After not hiking for a bit of time I would say this trail is good for beginners accommodated by an average hiker. Great to experience and learn about reading trails and walking on loose rocks. Simply found the trail and was parking for about 7 cars. View is beautiful and hike takes about an hour back and forth. Good conditioning for more difficult hikes. Bring bug spray !

Trail is gravel, stone, dirt with places having large rocks. Couple of steep slopes but doable. View of lake George is spectacular. Well worth the effort.

Other reviews emphasize how easy this hike it, and compared to others in the area, it is. But a heads up that although short, there are very steep portions, so it's still challenging. Just a warning. We almost brought my father on this hike since it seemed so easy but glad we didn't because he wouldn't have been able to handle the steeper portions.

That being said, it is a relatively easy hike (comparatively) with some STUNNING views. It was great for us -- near where we were staying just south of Bolton's Landing, quick and easy to get to off 9N, with absolutely beautiful views. Would definitely do it again (we did it twice on our trip). But bring bug spray!!

Huge view payoff for moderate effort, this will be a staple hike every time I'm in the area.
