Enjoyable hike that should be a 5-star hike. Poor trail condition keeps it lower. Even though it's still early in the season, the ridiculous number of blowdowns (8-10) and clear lack of maintenance on the second half of the trail is unfortunate. The first half or so is really great! Trail is wide and in relatively good shape. Second half the trail narrows considerably, which really wouldn't be that bad if the trail was in good shape. The lake itself was gorgeous and a great escape from the outside world. Also, we thought we were doing Chase Lake until we got back! An enjoyable happy accident.
