Beautiful this time of year. We were there on a weekend morning and traffic was light. My almost 5 year old found the initial part a bit challenging, but once we started descending on the AT he did great. You don't get to see much view between the trees unless you break a bit into the small lake, but this time of year the trees are so pretty you really don't need anything else.

Nice hike... added the extra two miles for epic views from black mountain... totally worth it... bushwhacked a bit at the end to avoid the road... again worth the prickers for the peaceful walk around the lake... you will work for those views :)

I would rate this hike at a 6. Steep at certain points. To get the view of the lake from the top you need to follow the white trail after you go over the road looking path. Start out Following the yellow trail near the lake and than you have to pick up the white trail by Lean to shelter. You follow the white trail for about a mile than you must turn on what looks like a road which is actually silver Mine rd. There are no more trail markers at this point you just follow that road looking path. This hike is definitely NOT 3.8 miles it’s 4.9 miles. They need to mark this trail better!!! when you get to the intersection of silver Mine road and white trail take left onto to the path that looks like a road!! Stay alert or you’ll be hiking over 7 miles.

Great trail. Pass a lean-to across the way and remember to bear left up the scramble. It does end up on the road, but it's only for a short walk back to the car.

Fun hike but could not locate the Spanish Mine

The beginning of the hike and the lake were nice. We didn't like that the end of the trail is the road. Maybe we missed a trail and just ended up on the road. The park seems nice with everyone grilling. We'll have to try that one nice day

Slightly different hike from same parking lot. Stockbridge mountain and Lake Nawahunta loop hike. Completed in February with new fallen snow - was great.

Easy enough hike with a beautiful view of the lake for half of the time.

As noted earlier, toward the end you can cross the stream beneath the dam (some easy rock-hopping) and follow the shoreline back to the parking area. No need to walk along the road.

Nice moderate hiking trail

Great moderate hike. A few rocky uphill inclines but all manageable with our dog. She loved climbing up the rocks with us. Keep an eye open for wildlife (and snakes).

Tip: The silver mine road you take off the Appalachian trail (before the AT starts climbing up again) heads back to the lake. If you follow that to the dam and cross the creek you can walk along a footpath that leads right back to the parking lot and avoid the main road.

Hiked on a week day and didn't see other hikers cept the two I was with. Hiking along road on way back and not realizing trail loop cut up behind shelter only two issues. Most drivers gave ample space ✔️ and losing trail was my own fault :-/. Torrential rain actually made it more interesting. Raspberries along the lake portion of the path were a great addition to a great day. Definitely worth it.

The hike itself was pretty cool! Lush scenery and a good workout. The biggest issue was the markers... Kind of got off trail and hiked longer than planned. Overall had a great day despite getting soak and wet. Had a cool hiking partner as well.

First part is great. Once you pickup the mine road it's a little basic, and walking back to start on the highway is never all that fun. Still, overall a good hike.

Silver Mine lake trail was a fun hike. I mistakenly took the cut path up the old ski slope thinking that was the trail head, beat some bush linking back up to the main trail. Stick next to the lake and between the ski slope for the easier start or be adventurous like me and my German Shepherd dog, it's all good! Pretty tunnel of wild flowers up top.

Another trail rated "easy" and as a beginner I wouldn't consider it easy. There were no markings after following the R/At trail to turn onto silver mine rd to get back to 7 lakes dr. We wound up climbing to the top of Black Mtn and then had to double back.
