Took kids and they enjoyed it, except thorny bushes in the one part of loped trail!!!

Trail is poorly marked. Guns firing nearby the entire hike really took away from the experience.

The single path trail was fantastic, really enjoyable with great views. The loop, however, was incredibly difficult due to multiple gigantic downed trees and poorly placed trail markers. The loop is obviously not well traveled as it was hard to see. We lost the trail multiple times and ended up having to just give up and find our way to the road. The preserve map was little help as it does not really give you the trail route, just tells you where you are in the park.

Took our dog and enjoyed it! The south trail was much better than the loop but kinda short if you just did that so we did the whole thing :)

first time I've ever tried to walk the green diamond trail with the dog today. had to turn back after 2 miles. could not make the first stream Crossing as it was too high and running rapidly. the trail itself was all ice and mud because of the warm temperatures. scenery was very nice from what I could see of it.should be spectacular in the summertime when I will attempt to hike it again. the walk back seemed slightly uphill all the way to the parking lot. lol. great exercise!

Very icy today!

Traction aids are a must until we get more snow.

The trail map is a little confusing but trails were good. Not very muddy

Did a short walk to the waterfall this morning. There wasn't a lot of water in Washout Cr., but it was still pretty nice. The warblers and vireos were singing up a storm today.

I welcomed Spring in with a hike on the Area 1 loop (north side of preserve). Trail started out kind of crummy as there were plenty of post holes from bare boot walkers. It got better the farther into the woods I went. I went off trail quite a few times as the 1'+ of snow made for good travel through the open woods.

Walked the southern loop from the parking lot. Not much snow, but everything was very icy. Spikes were necessary for good footing in several areas. Beautiful day to be outside.

fun winter hike, uneventful

Was hoping to see the waterfall, but the near 5 mile loop we followed did not include it. Map provided at the trail head didn't show the location. Overall an uninteresting winter hike with not much of note.

2 hour hike to do the loop. Confusing at times as markers can take you different directions. Following All Trail loop is wise, there are laminated maps, some of which litter the trail. Some times you follow red markers then it changes to green markers. If you don't know the area, definitely wise to use phone tracker. All in all very nice picturesque walk though. Just be a little careful now. Leaves cover vertical rocks and roots.

Trail was marked clear and just cam to an end

We took the bottom trail marked "trail head." It goes nowhere and have to come back on same path. Very quiet and easy 2 mile hike. Will try the 4 mile loop next time.

Went out on 10/02/2015 for a beautiful day hike of the preserve. The trail was nice and easy in most parts with only a few steep spots. If you have a few hours to kill you should check this place out.

I couldn't find the waterfall and the trail was pretty short

We are very new to exploring nature trails and hiking minimally, so when we saw that Sanders Preserve was classified as "easy" and close to home, we decided to give it a go. There were no problems locating the parking area and the sign-in book on Sanders Road. After spending a few minutes browsing the signs, we took a paper map, and began at the trail head on the same side of the road as the parking area through the grassy patch. Admittedly, the map was difficult to read so we did not choose our trail for anything other than its proximity to where we currently were.

The trail itself started off OK. We quickly realized that we were on a very rocky and root-y trail. Fine -- nothing we can't deal with. Having read some of the previous reviews, we were cautiously optimistic that we would find anything spectacular to look at. We walked for a little over a mile and saw nothing other than a few frogs, chipmunks, and a plethora of "POSTED" signs. Eventually we wound up at a very steep path down to a creek bed. The bed was almost completely dry. It was at this point that the trail markers ended. There was no way to cross the creek, and no path in any direction other than back up the incredibly steep hill (we were confused by this because previous reviews stated that the trail was a loop). I would deem this hill as dangerous and in need of a railing of some sort.

We made it back up the hill ultimately, but were too worn out to enjoy any of the sights on the way back to the car. Chances are slim that we will ever return to Sanders Preserve -- we'd rather get our workouts in somewhere with more views.

Did the trail to Point A to B to C and back to the parking lot. It was about 2.5 miles and point A brough you down to the creek of which was fairly dry as we have had a lack of rain. Didnt have time to check out the other trails. It was a nice short walk in the forest but nothing exciting.

A little confusing but would go back...

We have been here 2 times already and still did not find the waterfalls Or see any animals at all but we enjoyed it

My wife and I visited this for the first time this afternoon, during some of the hotter hours of the days. There was a little bit of mud, but sneakers were fine. I imagine after some rain that boots are a must. Also, bring bug spray!

This was a very nice walk through the woods. The parking area on Sanders Rd is easy to find. There were only a couple cars there, and we walked past a couple hikers only once. There are a lot of trails here, and there were copies of the trail map where you sign in.

We will definitely be coming back to explore the other trails. We only walked the trails north of the road this time out.

This is home my daily trek. creek is flowing most of the year and Trail sign in is only minuets from 890 west and Route 5. well marked and if you like can take copy of map with you, recommend extra fun for children. There is a port a potty and table at sign in a nice touch. Trails are well traveled and marked there are several start points to keep your interest and sights fresh. some incline but not too steep. I take a slow pace and am limited in my ability and do not have any trouble .

Great nature walk for adults with small children. We went last week and spent 3 hours wandering around the trails, hit both sides of the road. We all had a great time, it's close to home and we will definitely go back.

We have hiked this preserve (both sides of the road) and completed all of the trails several times in different seasons. The best part of the preserve is that it offers something for everyone in terms of terrain. Lots of friendly dogs each time as well.
