Love this easy hike through the forest. Lots of moss, a creek runs parallel to the path. Ruins here and there. Dappled light. There were bugs but not bad enough to make me never return. It’s a verdant trail and therefore more moist landscape. Also, the gps location for trail entrance was incorrect. Don’t go down the private road. Go to the one before or after (depending on direction you come from)

Not crowded -- have bee twice in past 4 weeks. Not too muddy either -- very dog friendly.

Fantastic, we took the red loop around, makes for an interesting return but adds a bit of time/distance.

Less buggy then it’s probably been due to the cooler temps. Nice quiet walk in the woods.

I started at the Lean-To and walked the blue trail to the yellow trail back to the blue to get something fr my car. Did the blue trail back to the Lean-To but this is only logging 1.1 miles. Great trails though the gnats to get quite irritating.

This was a very nice, not-too-challenging hike, with some options to make it longer. I added on both the yellow and red trails to make it a loop of sorts; it was just short of 6 miles and took me about 2 1/2 hours. The yellow trail was especially beautiful and peaceful—there are a lot of old ruins back there, and it kind of feels like time has stopped. It was quiet—I only passed two people until I neared the trailhead again. It was SUPER buggy—mostly hovering gnats—and that was a bummer; but there has been rain, so it might be fine in dryer conditions. This is a great option if you can’t do a big climbing hike or if the forecast calls for rain (lots of tree cover). Also, for those solo women hikers: everything is well marked, and I felt safe at all times.

decent easy hike with some incline to get a sweat going. overall easy to moderate. off 28 just turn into the parking area there are clear brown and white signs for Rochester Hollow trailhead, dont follow the directions from this app that pop into your navigation. didnt do full loop, we took the yellow trail off the blue and looped around, yellow is where you see the rock ruins. shaded so good for summer, i agree with another review here this would be a very nice trail run, not too technical or loose rocks.

Running

Great for trail running. 1.5 mi uphill, two other loops to take. Lovely trees. Bears here, just sing... Really pretty stream alongside first mile of trail. I'd call this easy or moderate, but that depends on fitness level. I like to run it...

Fairly gentle walk in the woods and a wide former road for the path. After the Boroughs Memorial (1.8 mi) the final half mile to the lean-to is extra nice with some interesting ruins. No views but shady in the hot summer and a nice open colorful forest in the fall. Good for a hike without the steep climb of most other Catskill trails.

Great hike! We went and it was neither a short nor a long hike. It is quite peaceful. It is not significantly steep.
