Enjoyed this hike very much. It’s very rocky and boots are a must. Trail is very well marked. Had lunch at the lake and it was very peaceful.

A beautiful day for a walk! leaves mostly gone but great color still around, the river gurgling away down below, and a few birds like an egret and a hawk to keep us company.

Hiked 2.5 miles to the lake, had a picnic lunch, and hiked back. The autumn colors were beautiful! Went on a Saturday around 10:30am and the trail was semi-busy, but everyone was respectful of space and almost everyone wore masks. You'll have to park on the road, but it's not an issue. The bathrooms are closed for the season, even on weekends.

Went here last Saturday and by 11am there was so many people hiking up the pine meadow trail. But came here on Friday and it was perfect, not many other people.

Get there early or all the parking in the small lot will be gone. Note bathrooms closed for this season. Pretty crowded trail, if you’re seeking solitude this probably isn’t the perfect trail for you. People are very loud as well... not a strong sense of peacefulness throughout. The trail isn’t very buggy at all. The lake says swimming prohibited but people were swimming and paddle boarding. After the lake, the amount of people decrease, and there are some cool ruins on the outskirts of the lake. Saw a large rattlesnake, so definitely watch where you’re stepping! Nice variety of scenery—deep woods, open fields, the lake, narrow trails, etc. One vista, on the return bit of the loop— ascending Ramapao Mountain, other than that the vistas are mostly of the lake. Not much rock scrambling at all on the first half of the loop, maybe one or two points but mostly just some rocky bits here and there. The second half (returning) part of the loop is where it gets harder— many rock scrambles and hilly bits. Lots of fun, nothing too strenuous. My phone stopped recording before the trail actually ended, but it’s definitely more like 12 miles-ish if you do the whole thing

great trail it is definitely a moderate trail. lots of challenging areas on the trail I had some large boulders then it turning to small boulders with mud some areas Creeks would cross. Nice trail not too hard and that too easy. I took the red trail in the beginning lots of people but once you pass the lake 4 beautiful miles of quietness just you and nature and tranquility. made a jug handle and came right back another good 4 Miles then I ran into individuals. someone wearing mask others were not that's okay I was wearing mine that's all that really matters. good moderate trail happy hiking.

Great trail, amazing views. Hiked up to the lake which is about 4 miles in. It’s pretty rocky, two recommendations, wear comfortable sneakers and go early. I got there at 9am and I was finished by 1pm. Not too many people, but enough to bump Into on the trail. The later in the day you go, the heavier the traffic of people.

This trail was awesome! I started on the white to blue to red (first timer) to get to the lake, got lost but worth it! The trails were rocky and the view up top was amazing! The end goal for me was the lake and the long hike was def worth it. Brought my dog (puggle) and she kept up the whole time. Highly recommend this to everyone and anyone.

Great trail... though very busy along the river up to the lake. Tip: we came back on the north side of the river and mush less traffic. Once you get past the lake though, it thins out nicely. We also decided to come back on the southside of the lake and added Raccoon Brook Hill to mix it up a bit. Could walk this trail in the snow

Very nice with a lot of small rocks via the red line. The view of the lake is so nice in the spring time.

Cool trail. Pretty easy, but rocky. A lot of dogs in the trail (so dogs lovers, you would definitely enjoy this one). Scenery of the lake is amazing. It takes around two hours back and forth (note: my recording time is from lake to begging of the trail)
