I used this trail to get all the way to the summit of Mt. Wittenberg. It was really tough, very steep at the start but it levels out a few miles in. Towards the end there are some fallen trees and some marshy areas but if you make it hat far you probably aren’t bothered by that. I managed 8 miles on the first day, then camped out near the trail as I was losing light. The next morning I went up to the summit at dawn just before the blue trail merged into the red. From when it hits the red it gets very tough with lots of climbing and scrambling. This whole time I didn’t see another person! There were some people at the peak but t was so early that they were still in their tents asleep. About 2/3 of my way back down the blue trail I saw another person going the way I had came. Overall, it was very challenging at some points and not a whole lot to see until the summit, but some great hiking.
