Peconic River is a 3.2 mile loop trail located near Manorville, New York that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and bird watching.
Beautiful trails through the woods. Don't know why that's not listed here. Sportsman club is a little unsettling but after talking to a local, hiking is safe.
Despite other reviews I tried to give this one a shot. I went on a rainy day (it’s my favorite) so there wasn’t any people traffic. I was following the recorded trail... everything was good until having to walk on mill rd. If there was at least a flattened path on the side of the road I would have felt better and continued. But I didn’t like walking along the side of a road with blind turns and no decent pathway. I tried to take a path to connect the fishing areas but it wasn’t worth walking through all the brush.... I didn’t mind the power lines but walking the road isn’t what I had in mind. Maybe in the fall/winter it will be better...
Very overgrown, lots of fallen trees. No trail markers. Most of the time is spent on a busy 2 lane road and the power line road. Wouldn’t really consider this a trail, more like walking past all the fishing spots.
This hike was extremely disappointing despite the beautiful photos I was able to get. The trails have not been maintained and in order to be anywhere near the water you have to with bushwhacked or walk on a boat/fishing ramp. Most of the hike is on the street where cars speed around the curves. Very dangerous and not close to nature.
peconic trails include the Calverton Veterans Memorial Park. the paced path is a 9.3 mile loop built for non motorized use. walk, run, bike, hike. we are planning trails to link to the Paumanok Path and the Pine Barrens Trail Center in Manorville. Bob Beattie Peconic Trails
Afternoon spring hike, we had a lovely walk; saw two bunnies, two woodchucks, one turtle, and countless birds. surprisingly no deer, but we did find 21 ticks! Make sure to check yourself for ticks and be liberal with the bug spray.
leisure biked the calverton loop at the veterans memorial path. great day for it. well paved. no motorized vehicles! recently opened to the public. the 4 kiosks remain empty. great for runners, walkers, cyclists .
