Ok, I have to agree with the comment below, it was way to crowded towards the end of the trail. A lot of people with kids. We got lucky to find the parking but a lot of people were parked on the road. They all got tickets. So be aware and considerate, people. If you see that there is no parking, probably there will be a lot of people on the trail! Try to go to a different location. Overall, the trail was very rocky and moderate as described. 4 stars is a fare rate.

Great trail, but way too crowded given the pandemic. most hikers are idiots apparently and have no concept of keeping distance on the trail. I suggest staying away from Harriman and instead visiting less known hiking spots for the foreseeable future.

Great hike! Nice views and changes in scenery. Small parking area, so might be a problem on a beautiful weekend day.

Great trail, challenging for novice hikers. Definently start clockwise for at least 3 scrambles along the way.

Nice trail with beautiful views. Terrain changes with some flats and some scrambling. Trail is well marked with blazes but be careful of intersections as there are no trails (names) marked. Definitely recommend.

Nice trail with lots of technical hiking and some really nice views. It’s worth the track.

Tougher than it seems! Blueberry bushes throughout at least in mid July.

Fun moderate level hike. App brings you right to the trail head, probably 15 spots. Most of the hike is in lush green woods which is shaded. Water holes throughout the hike for the dogs and lots of blueberry bushes for picking (although not in season yet). Lightly traveled but well marked and maintained. Awesome look out points and some mild rock scrambling. We followed the white markers, which turned into a red bullseye, then back to white, finishing the last 0.2 miles on the road. About 3.5 hours to complete. A lot of backcountry hikers. They have a permitted designated camping spot which is very nice. I'm considering going back to camp.

Have done this loop as part of a bigger trip to Bald Rocks Shelter. The loop mapped is White Bar trail North to Nurian East to Ramapo Dunderburg South. The White Bar section brings you over Car Pond Mountain, Nurian over a creek (a good water source for filtering) and up Black Rock Mountain South, and the Ramapo Dunderburg section over Tom Jones mtn. and ends at Parker Cabin mtn. Less than a mile North of the meeting of Nurian and RD trails is a Bald Rocks shelter, a great place to set up a tent. The RD trail section of Black Rock mtn. is one of the most beautiful spots in Harriman.

Pleasant loop with a few good lookout spots. We started at 9:30am and finished by 1:15pm (took a few short snack breaks). There were a few sections of bouldering and the elevation gain made it a good workout. Be sure to follow trail markers to avoid extending the loop (which I did by about a mile at one branch).
