This was a great trail, very secluded, I saw maybe 3 people during the 3 hours I was there. Solid amount of inclines and declines, some big rocks to walk over and a pretty large section of tree roots to traverse. These are good/fun things! You cross water a few times, but there are nice wooden bridges. I went down into the streams as they’re low now that it’s summer. Very interesting and unique landscape. When you first head out onto the trail, you’ll hear the cars passing on Genesee Road. Don’t let that get you down. Within 10 minutes, you’re engulfed in nothing but the sounds of nature. Bring some water, it gets humid in the woods around WNY. Bug spray as well. I didn’t need any sunscreen, as the trees are full of leaves, most of the light wasn’t able to reach the floor.

First time here, had to dodge a lot of muddy standing water, some places were unavoidable. Lots of fun, a lot of inclines and declines, the mud was only bad in a few steep parts but overall the hills were the most dry part of the trail. I had a little trouble following markers because the red ones went away for awhile. Got a little turned around but got a few good views out of it! Definitely will go back when there’s been less rain.

Trail is quite muddy at this time. The abundance of foot traffic and horses has made parts of the trail very hard to navigate bc of the mud holes. If you have bad knees this trail has a lot of roots to avoid so bring walking poles to assist. I went around 12 got out by 1 and the trailhead parking was packed when I got out. Trails need better markings because it’s hard to understand the trails. I think the county should come out with a good map of the forest trails to assist hikers.

Cool trail very quiet. Was a little muddy but easy to go around. Lots of nice views, we even saw people riding horses on the trail. It looked like there was also a trail across the street, would like to go back and try that one.

I went on this trail at the end of March and it was very muddy. Hard to even walk around the mud and kids boots kept getting stuck and coming off. Trail markings weren’t very noticeable and we got lost and went the wrong way once. I had three small kids with me, so we ended up turning around because I wasn’t sure how much further we had. But it really is quiet and beautiful.

Great trail - especially for dog walking. 2 small creek crossing on a dry day a mile or more in. I lost GPS service & am kind of a purist so when I lost the trail I doubled back to get the whole thing. Very easy to follow though - at at fork between a tractor trail & a bridge on the right, take the bridge on the right.

beautiful woods; very muddy. And, NOT lightly travelled; maybe 100 people on Saturday 4.25 - because of COVID-19? We did Silent Woods, then Scarbuck, then the Extension - with some mistakes...total 6 miles, 2:40. Lovely. Silent Woods looks like it will be closed for hunting season (still on?) May 1-31.

Just got back from the hike! We extended it and went over the Bridge Far went to the left and then came back the snowmobile trail to the road. Beautiful views this morning with the snow from last night and the suns rays shining through the tree tops! Was a lil muddy as to be expect in the Spring! I thought the trail was very well marked.

One of my favorite trails in WNY! Once you cross the first bridge the trail splits into two, I always go left to start but that is just a personal preference. If it’s your first time hiking the trail just make sure to keep an eye out for the trail markers. The trail is decently marked but there are a few turns you could miss if not careful! It gets pretty muddy this time of year but the mud is pretty easy to just walk around. The farther you walk on the trail, the quieter and more peaceful it gets. Some spots remind me of hiking in the Adirondacks. Definitely recommend!

Quick loop today. Probably last chance to hit it before it gets muddy. Still a fun Sunday jaunt. The trail markings have always been good here, but they've been upgraded and are even better now. Big shout out to all the people who do trail maintenance.

Beautiful area, very satisfying stands of giant spruce and pines. Trail well-marked, bridges, water features. Quick and enjoyable! Completed the trail for the #WNYWinterChallenge.
