Tips

The entrance to the parking area is VERY easy to miss, so drive slowly as you get close. Follow the Western Ridge Trail (yellow) east from the parking area. Easy, single-track trail scattered with exposed tree roots, descending towards Mud Pond. There are a number of stream crossings with steppingstones. At 1.3 miles take the Mud Pond trail (orange) to the left. Nice views of the water at various points around the pond. Pick up the Nature trail (turquoise) at 2.1 miles. The junction Red Oak Ridge trail (red) is at 2.6 miles and begins the steady hike back up towards the ridge. At 3.1 miles, take the rocky descent along the Turkey Path trail (white) back towards the Western Ridge Trail.

The parking area is very easy to miss, so drive slowly as you get close; the sign is hidden by tree growth.

some of the trail was great but there were parts that weren't official nor were they even a trail. uneven footing, rocks and roots buried under deep leaves. not a safe trail just yet.

Trail had different color markings. You didn’t follow the same color for the entire trail. Followed the map, if I went in the wrong direction I would back track until I got back on the trail according to the map. If it wasn’t for the map, I would have no way of knowing what color to follow. Nice day, 80 partly cloudy, some bugs. I would consider the trail moderate with a lot of switchbacks

Liked the portion of the trail we hiked, unfortunately the yellow trail markers did not seem to correspond with the map at the trail head or the map in AllTrails (Yellow trail connects to a ‘Pink Trail’ that isn’t listed anywhere). We’ll definitely head back again to see if we can figure out the new configuration, just a heads up for others to double check and not make assumptions.
