Completing Marshal via this route allows for a stop at the airplane wreckage on your way to the turn off for the summit. A little less traveled through cold brook trail if you like more solitude and an exit through Indian pass will make this route a loop with a waterfall stop.

I enjoyed this day! Avalanche pass is a must do for anyone coming to the ADK taking cold brook to Marshal is less traveled than Herbert brook we ran into only one other person our the entire length of cold brook and up to the summit plus we stopped in at the wreckage site. I enjoyed completing this as a loop instead of an out and back.. A bit more mileage but worth it.
